In Friday Five/ Wednesday Whereabouts

Long Weekend in Miami

For the past few years around Robby’s birthday we’ve booked a trip to South Florida/Miami area and my mother in law comes to stay with the kids (she is seriously wonderful). This year we were in the heart of South Beach in all its glory. My hairdresser asked me on Wednesday what I was most looking forward to about the weekend…I told her in all honesty, the plane ride alone without wrangling children is a treat!

Friday we headed to the strip to people watch and take in the scene. Prime 112 is definitely a hotspot in Miami and we enjoyed it. They have a great wine list and their garlic bread is out of the world. I had the crab cake and Robby had the sliders, both were tasty!

South Beach must be neon from the sky at night and I don’t think they turn it off til the sun comes up.

Saturday was not ideal weather but by Sunday we were seeing lots of sunshine and hit the beach. I got into a great book and sipped pina coladas. We ended the afternoon by the pool where a local magazine was doing a modeling shoot of sorts. I didn’t get any photos of it but it felt like we walked into a Saturday Night Live skit.

What is there not to love about these cabanas by the pool?!
hiltonpool_miami_2014One of my favorite spots is the Naked Taco – the service was super friendly and they have a mixologist with lots of creative concoctions. This little gem is on the patio, we had fun getting some pics on those 1970’s-style velvet seats.
nakedtaco_miamiWe had a great time and hated to leave the beautiful weather on Monday, but were ready to see the boys and Ella. Wednesday we leave for Houston to do Thanksgiving with my family…let the holiday chaos begin!
