five things you need to know about city winery {atlanta}

Earlier this summer a good friend invited me to a Ryan Bingham concert at City Winery. I immediately fell for the venue and the musician I had never heard of prior. Last week I was treated to a tour of the winery and a tasting of their Fall menu … “blown away” are the words I would use to describe my experience!

5 things you need to know and share about atlanta’s only winery

1. Home to Atlanta’s only winemaker, Travis Green. He even has a full chemistry lab on-site! They offer tastings daily and you’ll for sure want to check out the Speakeasy on the floor level.

2. Pet-friendly! Not only do they have one of the largest urban, pet-friendly patios. Your furry four-legged friends are invited to chow down on the Canine Cuisine Menu at City Winery. Pups can feast on Haute Dawgs — Bite-sized pieces of plain hot dog; Puptite Steak & Eggs — Grassfed beef and two scrambled eggs; Make You Beg Chicken — Grilled chicken breast; Bone Appetit — three strips of crispy bacon, and more. Dogs can also stay hydrated and beat Atlanta’s heat with dog-friendly wines including Chardognays, Zinfantails and Malbarks. Yea – I said dog-friendly-wines!

3. City Winery supports our state and local economy. They process 40-50 TONS of wine each year and nearly 50% of their grapes come from North Georgia. I personally loved the Peach State Cab and Ponce City Pinot Noir.

4. The musicians that grace the stage are super impressive + the event calendar is always full. Highlights for September 2018 include Robert Earl Keen, Annual Harvest Party, Meet on Wine – not Online (a mixer for the single sophisticate) and Barrel of Chefs Benefiting The Giving Kitchen! Full calendar here…

5. Globally influenced and locally sourced eats, artfully created by Executive Chef Nick Anderson. The dough used for pizza is made with leftover yeast from wine fermenting … making it a little darker and a little more robust. Be sure to check out the shrimp hushpuppy – to die for!
