We had a great time sneaking in an overnight trip with the babes to Chattanooga, Tennessee over Easter weekend. We did this with them two years ago and decided it would be fun to head back and try to make a tradition of it! This time my in-laws came to join us for the fun. It’s really such an easy 1.5-hour drive from Atlanta and about the same for my in-laws that drove from Birmingham, Alabama.
We arrived on Saturday just in time to drop our stuff off, and walk over for lunch at Mellow Mushroom. It really is a great walking city, so after lunch we took off to take in the beautiful cherry blossoms lining the street and stroll the gorgeous bridges.
The kids had to stop to say hello to this fella…
When the youngins started to get weary we stopped for an ice cream cone and a potty break. The weather was perfect on Saturday in the mid-70s so we soaked it up and headed to the hotel for a splash in the {heated} pool! There’s nothing more exciting than that first dip in the pool after winter…love watching the excitement in my kids’ faces.
That evening we had reservations at Easy Bistro, where we ate last time we took the kids to Chattanooga. It’s a little “fancier” than we usually dine with the kids in tow but makes it all the more fun. They have a great wine list and the food never disappoints.
Sunday we attended church at The Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul, a beautiful cathedral founded in 1852. After church we headed to the Bluff View Art district for lunch, which is historic neighborhood filled with restaurants, a coffee house, art gallery, historic Bed & Breakfast, and plenty of gardens, plazas and courtyards. It’s quite picturesque and one of my favorite spots we’ve found there. I can only imagine how gorgeous it is at night with all the twinkling lights! The Back Inn Café was where we enjoyed lunch and the views – it was perfect. This one is from the front porch…
This was just the appetizer…
Perfect bloody with zing zing!
All the babes takin’ in the view.
This little goober stirring up trouble…
We hope to make Chattanooga our Easter tradition!
